A Visit to Love Romances Café with Giveaways

Today is my semi-annual takeover visit of the Love Romances Café Yahoo Group. I plan to do multiple posts about my books, share several of my reviews of other authors’ books, post a few recipes and Christmas traditions, some historical posts about the holidays, and some giveaways – including an Amazon gift card. Guest authors from my publishers will share their newest releases, books from their backlists, and whatever inspires.

To visit LRC, you need to join the LRC Yahoo Group at – clicking the LRC icon will get you there. Your first post as a member is moderated. Set your membership preference to Individual Email for today, then switch to Digest afterwards because it’s a high volume site. Hope you can drop by. Rita

Soul Cakes: A Halloween Tradition

On Halloween in parts of ancient Britain, soul cakes were distributed to the poor. Soul cakes’ origins date at least back to Medieval times. Why were they given to the poor, especially around Halloween? Check out my post at Secret Cravings Publishing on the ancient tradition of Soul Cakes with a recipe, no less. So soft and delicious!

A Visit to Romance Cooks

Today I’m blogging at Romance Cooks about about my recent sizzling hot contemporary release, The Caretaker’s Lady AND sharing my recipe for Bread pudding with bourbon sauce. The resort’s caretaker recommends the  pecan pie and bread pudding for dessert. Cathy Morrow, a famous romance author who is staying at the resort to complete her hot novel, discovers that she might be more interested in the caretaker than dessert. Check out my favorite pecan pie recipe, then visit Romance Cooks for the bread pudding with bourbon sauce recipe, the book blurb, and the steamy seduction excerpt. The choice is yours: pecan pie or bread pudding with bourbon sauce?

Both desserts3 whole eggs
¾ cup granulated sugar
¾ cup light Karo syrup
1 tsp. vanilla
1 Tbl margarine, melted
1 cup pecans
1 deep dish unbaked pie shell

Preheat oven to 425°. Mix eggs on medium. Beat in vanilla, sugar, margarine, and syrup.  Spread pecans on the bottom of the pie. Pour mixture into shell. Bake for ten minutes, lower heat to 350° and bake 45 minutes more or until pie is “set.”

Visiting Dawn’s Reading Nook Today

Search&Rescue_200x300Today I’m visiting Dawn’s Reading Nook, Dawn Roberto’s home away from Love Romance Café. SEARCH & RESCUE, my contemporary military romance that takes place in my hometown of Mobile AL and the deserts of eastern Afghanistan, is featured there.

For Army Ranger Captain Taylor Jackson and college coed Lexie Carter, it’s love at first sight. Young Lexie’s non-traditional family, however,  isn’t exactly pleased with her choice of a military officer a decade her senior. Her middle-aged guardians, former Green Berets, know quite a bit about the problems of military service. Lexie’s guardians were in the Army and gay  when gays were discharged with little recourse. My special feature at the Reading Nook today is “A Very Short History of Gays in the Military.” There’s also a blurb and excerpt. Check out my post at Dawn’s HERE.

I’m pleased to announce that Secret Cravings has contracted ELY’S EPIPHANY, Todd and Ely’s nontraditional Christmas story, for publication in December.

SEARCH & RESCUE is available from Secret Cravings Publishing. Click HERE to read excerpt/buy.
