Rita Bay’s Wonder of the World #1: Europabrücke

In the first 27 days of September we’ve checked out the Wonders of the Ancient World, the New Wonders of the World and the Runners-Up.  That leaves three more days without Wonders.  SO, for the next three days I’m sharing my own.  All are interesting (to me, at least) for one reason or another.  If you have a Wonder (Structure not Natural) to share, please comment. The Europabrücke, or Europe’s bridge, is a 2,549 ft long bridge above the Sill River that spans the Wipp Valley just south of Innsbruck,Austria. It was built between 1959 and 1963 and until 2004 at 620 feet above the ground was Europe’s highest bridge. It is part of the main route between southeastern Germany thru western Austria to northern Italy via the South Tyrol across the Alps.  The drive offers one magnificent view after another.  Well worth the time if you’re in the area.

The new towers at the site of the Wold Trade Centers will be wonders. Appears latest and greatest technology, engineering, design, and construction are being incorporated. Results may be the best of all world-class structures when completed (2013 ??).
